During the everlasting COVID-19 pandemic I have been researching different sustainable products in preparation of some projects in the near future (more info will follow soon!) I have been using the website: www.materialdistrict.com. A true gem!
One of these projects I am working on is called: The Sound of Light.
For this project I am researching UV sensitive pigments from the 70's. Below a picture showing different samples.
I finally managed to get my BFA thesis uploaded onto this website!
My goal was to show that natural light can expand the way we experience and think about theater today. Research investigated natural theater lighting ranging from ancient Greece to the early baroque period.
This led to the conclusion that theatrical productions that make use of natural sources of light lead to new theatrical experiences, by holding performances of the same production during different times of day: morning, afternoon, evening. So why put effort into recreating natural light when it is readily available in its true form?
